I tried this route in Lynx and got 957 T-Chip time, which is the same as what i got for Syzygy's route. However, Tile World saved this one, so it may or may not be marginally better.

The difference in timing probably comes from how close you followed the last ball, not from a meaningful difference in the distance traveled. Interesting analysis in any case.
