I am curious what would happen if you put in IDs for blocks that didn't exist (like walls, chips, monsters, etc) in levels. Of course, excluding the main unused blocks that are more-or-less technical-based...

I'm sorry if that grammar was odd. I'm just curious.

Yes. You must modify ChipEdit.ini. The tile index is 255.

Good luck!

If you try to add any other transparent tiles (i.e. monsters, keys, boots on white space) or masks, I believe they just turn into the standard bug north on a white background when you play the level. However, you can create these other tiles using data resetting, by resetting the level number.

They turn into a bug north on a white background if you open the level in ChipEdit and skip the warnings, but they display properly during gameplay (at least in MSCC).

ChipHomeIS.dat may be a good reference.

In Tile World, they are always displayed like walls in both Lynx and MS.

Now I wonder if they can be modded for custom blocks for use in custom levelsets...

I'm afraid they can't because they are used for transparency...

But there are still two unused tiles that can be modified.

One of those tiles should be modified to be a Key Thief Thumbs up

There already are key thieves in the game. They are called locks. Step on one and it takes away a key.

Well I was being somewhat serious. Key thieves would bring a ton of new concepts and ideas to the level designing world Wink
