I personally would prefer Tile World myself, since that is the only version of CC or CC clone I can use at the moment since CC1 and CC2 aren't available on linux through steam yet :P
I would say instead of "random" levels, perhaps allow people to submit levels in a process similar to how CCLPs work. Then vet them, and then give like 5 at a time to both competitors and have them race to the end the set. But that's just my 2 cents.
