Awards/Achievements Poll

So, the new award system brings achievements to the table, but some may prefer the old system where it was just awards and they only appeared if you had them. The achievements permanently stay there, so everyone can see them and only light up when you get them. What do you guys think? Should we go back to the old system or keep the new achievement system up? I personally like the achievements to stay, and I made them smaller so they didn't take up too much room. Also, to let you guys know now there won't be anymore achievement icons popping up. What you see now is the maximum there will be on CC Zone.

Also, the idea I had for the achievement system (Inspired by the video game TimeSplitters 2) was to give you a specialised title when you hit a certain amount:

Bronze Chipster
- 8 achievements lit

Silver Chipster
- 12 achievements lit

Gold Chipster
- 16 achievements lit

I'll probably be alone on this, but I prefer them to exist within one entity, particularly when viewed next to usernames on posts. I don't really understand what logical criterion there is for making an award an "achievement" and how they ultimately differ. As far as grouping everything goes, I much preferred doing this only on the "Awards" screen.

Additionally, displaying a bunch of greyed out achievements that a user hasn't earned yet splits the focus between accomplishment and what hasn't been accomplished. I think the focus is best left on accomplishment only.

Or make them all achievements but don't light them up.

So what happens when CCLP4 is released?

Actually, I'm kinda with J.B. -- what exactly is the point of this?

Edit: And it seems to make every post unnecessarily tall.
They call me Earthling, for I come from Earth.

CCLP4 is not for a couple of years so that hasn't crossed my mind. Besides, CC Zone will most likely be dead by then.

I don't think it takes up that much space. We're not in the 90s anymore where low screen resolution was the norm.

Also, what Rock said was basically just turning them into awards I think.

UPDATE - Everyone's complaining so I'm going to revert back to the old system. However, I'll leave the topic open just in case someone wants it back.

I liked the achievements, but what if they only showed up on your profile and not next to each post? Having them next to the post made every post really long, and did highlight the fact that someone was new around here or didn't care for those achievements. If possible, it could be an option in a person's profile of what to show next to the posts.

I'm surely going to be around in a couple of years and even a decade, and hopefully this site will be too!

I always enjoy award systems and stuff like that, but as Miika said, they do make posts really long if we have a lot of awards (such as me and Miika), so I would suggest doing maybe what you did with the favorite CC levels, and make it like a dropdown menu thing (if that's possible. I don't know how this stuff works Confused). Or what Miika suggested would be fine as well.

The awards originally only showed up only on profile yes, but it felt very barebones without the awards being on there. I don't think I can go smaller than 5 awards per row.

And with them being very small right now, I see absolutely no problem whatsoever.
