  Walls of CCLP1
Posted by: random 8 - 16-Feb-2017, 2:52 AM - Forum: CC1 Level Packs - No Replies

File category: CC1 Levelsets

Wall templates derived from the 149 CCLP1 levels. Some levels didn't really have interesting wall layouts, so i tried to go with the second best thing, or third, etc. Even then, i think there are 1 or 2 i couldn't "fix". Maybe not. I don't remember.

Made for the February 2017 Create Competition.

February 2017 Create Competition - Walls of CCLP1
Posted by: M11k4 - 07-Feb-2017, 12:02 PM - Forum: Competitions - Replies (5)

Were you expecting this? Four years and counting, did you spot the pattern? Slight smile

Your task is to pick a level from CCLP1 and use its arrangement of walls to create a new level. You can pick any level from the range #1-#149, then delete anything you want except for any walls, and finally rebuild it into a new level. If you wish, you can also pick another prominent tile in the level and replace it with some other tile exactly.

There's something extra fun about taking someone else's creation and turning it upside down to create something totally new. Or you can take your own creation and tweak it a bit, who knows? This restriction of using the same walls from a different level has proven to be a fun one. You don't need to take it too literally, but I'll notice if you don't. I will judge the submissions myself during March 2017 (or when I am done with CCLP4 voting).

I've said before that "I enjoy it when the new level takes the existing wall configuration and does something different with it than the original", but also keep in mind that the level should be fun first and clever second. But sometimes CC levels are clever enough to be fun. And there are many types of fun to be had in CCLP1. I don't know what I'm talking about. I'll just flip a coin to decide the winner, I guess. (And no, I did not do that last year, no matter what you might think of the results!)

In any case, carve out some time from your schedule, push back arbitrary (voting) deadlines if needed, and get to work! Tongue

Notes:

-Submissions are open through March 6th where you live!

-Do not make a overly difficult level. A moderate difficulty is fine but then it would be nice if it wasn't too long.
-The level must be solvable, but does not need to work in both MS and Lynx. You may even use invalid tiles if you wish.
-The level should preferably be new, and it would be nice if you didn't release it before I do. If you complain nicely, I'll listen.
-Please give the level a new name, time limit and set a new password. Don't forget!

-You may submit more than one entry, but please keep the levels distinct from each other. Your best two entries is recommended.
-Points may be deducted for late entries, but will be accepted until I judge the levels.

-Entrants receive the normal prizes: the "You're Winner!"-award, Chip Cup points, and "Tool Box"-award for first time entrants.
-Please ask about other unclear situations. You may also check the previous competitions if similar situations were already discussed.

Email and attach your submissions to valeosote at hotmail dot com. I will strive to reply with a confirmation that I have received your entry. I prefer if you use your username and this competition in the subject. Keep it short and simple, something like: "February Create - Zelda"

Everyone is welcome to join! Slight smile

  February 2017 Time Trial
Posted by: M11k4 - 07-Feb-2017, 11:47 AM - Forum: Competitions - Replies (3)

Here we go!

http://cczone.invisionzone.com/index.php?/files/file/605-%7B?%7D/

I guarantee these two levels to be really fun! Standard Trial Trial rules apply, see below.

I want to take a moment and talk about the future of these competitions. It always takes some effort to run these things, and I've been doing these for some years now. Of course I haven't done it alone, but nevertheless at the very least I've felt a personal responsibility of the bigger picture. The participation levels also fluctuate somewhat and recently we've been at a lull. However, I enjoy these and hope you do too! So what am I getting at? I've decided I have to stop organizing these competitions... at some point. And rather than have that point come up suddenly, I'm announcing it now and will run a certain number of them before I am done. How many competitions do I have left in me? 100. Yes, including this time trial, I will organize one hundred more competitions. This gives me a clear goal to work towards. I already have at least a tenth of them planned, and I think there are some fun ones ahead. How many will you be a part of? Let the countdown begin!

Enjoy!

-Miika

Below:

  1. The person with the highest combined remaining time on the two levels wins! There may be a tie in overall score.
  2. This competition is primarily meant for MS rules. You may send in a Lynx solution too, but it will be judged separately, with the quickest solution possibly being awarded 5 Chip Cup points. and it will be judged in the same category even though the route is possibly worth more in MS.
  3. Please send your solutions (either the tws file or avis) to my own email valeosote at hotmail dot com. I will strive to respond to your message by a confirmation that your score has been recorded.
  4. The levels aren't too hard to solve. Don't be afraid to send in your solutions even if you sense they aren't perfect, and simple casual solutions are also appreciated. You may enter if you solve at least one of the levels, but solving both will obviously place higher.
  5. Submission deadline is March 5th, 2017 where you live. I will judge the submissions without warning during the following days but will accept submissions until I do. If you need a more specific time, you can always ask. To avoid losing on time (it is a time trial after all), get your solutions in early rather than later! You can send in improvements while the competition is running, so there is no downside to sending in something you know might not be your best effort if you had forever to work on it.
  6. This is part of the 2017 season of the Chip Cup. Winner will be awarded 15 points, second place 12, third 10 points, and so on. If you win a competition here for the first time, you receive the "You're Winner!" award. All participants who haven't participated in a Time Trial earlier receive the "Run, Chip, Run" award.
  7. The designer of the levels and any others who have seen the levels in advance, may enter the competition. Please be fair and do not abuse this rule; it is meant to maximize the fun, not provide an advantage.
  8. The levels may receive an update within the first week of their release. This will only be done if there is some significant problem with the first versions of the levels. Please contact me if you suspect something is off.
  9. Do not post your solutions or solution times or share them with others before the competition results are announced. All times will be published at the same time, and the quickest solutions will eventually be released.
  10. As an exception to the above rule, a participant may 'freeze' their scores at some point after submitting their own solutions. They will not be able to submit any more updates after this, but they may talk about the levels and their times with other people who have frozen their entry. I may update a public list of people who have frozen their score.

  Lost CC2
Posted by: Syllypryde - 27-Jan-2017, 5:17 PM - Forum: Chip's Challenge 2 - Replies (3)

I was forced to return to laptop to original factory setting about a month and a half ago. Since I played CC2 while online all of my achievements and progress, levels completed is recorded. But when I reinstalled Steam onto my PC the program for CC2 behaves as if I have never played before, starts right at level 1, and I cannot access the levels in which I was on (I was on 170- Practice to Perfect). Is there a way to access my online progress and incorporate it somehow into the game, so I can continue where I left off? If not, what are my options?

  CCLP4: Voting Deadline Revealed!
Posted by: Flareon350 - 26-Jan-2017, 8:42 PM - Forum: Announcements - No Replies

Hello, chipsters! We the CCLP4 staff hope you're doing well with voting so far and have had fun with the process so far! We are pleased to report that 15,592 votes have been cast throughout CCLP4's voting process and are still counting.

Over the past month or so, we have been discussing an end date for voting, since all 28 voting packs have been released since early November 2016. We've had a handful of people who have cast votes for every level, and we've got many more who are nearly there or are still working their way through the remaining voting packs. Based on the frequency of votes cased thus far, I'd like to propose that the end date for voting be April 30, 2017
, roughly 3 months from this post. We need to really get the ball rolling with this and move forward! While not necessary, a goal we would like to reach is to get at least 15 votes on every level from each pack of levels. As it stands now, only six voting packs have reached this and roughly half of them are almost there.) We are more than aware that some members might find this end date troublesome for the members who wish to vote on all 1,370 levels. If you have a different date you'd like to suggest, please join this discussion so we can iron something out before something is set in stone.

If you cannot vote on every level, please don't be discouraged from voting entirely. We highly encourage you to play packs that have less votes and to contribute to voting as much as possible. We need your help for CCLP4 to be the best set possible! You can see a complete list of the packs and how many minimum votes each pack has (in other words, the lowest number of votes a level in that pack has) here on the main voting page. I strongly recommend beginning at the end with the Expansion Pack and working your way backward so we can get more votes on the packs that have less.

- Josh Lee (CCLP4 Staff)

Edit: 3/28/2017 - The voting deadline is now set in stone and this topic has been locked.
