  Skype warning

I saw this on another forum I visit, and since a lot of you seem to be using Skype I thought it to be a good idea to post about it here.

Those who have the program updated to its latest version (7,25) should GET RID OF IT IMMEDIATELY for it has a security flaw the size of a house that would basically cause it to open at random during the day and to log in even if you don't want it to and even if you have it set up so it doesn't do any such things. If you are still running an older version, DO NOT UPDATE.

  NewRolfLevels2016.ccl and NewRolfLevels-EVLMIRROR2016.ccl

File category: CC1 Levelsets

Two similar sets of levels, only one is EVIL version, in generally meaner levels but not always.

Some had been included in previous CCLPs, so you might recognize some levels.

What's New in Version 2016
  • Few levels modified to be workable, especially in evil version.

My fixed version for CCLP4 (except for Smoke of the water). I hope you'll enjoy.

What's New in Version 2016-06-15
  • Fixed :
  • Frustating maze : Red keys and doors instead of greens to make it equal between MS and Linux.
  • Volcano lake : changed the inside of the lake to make it Lynx-friendly ; fewer chips now.

  Mystic Challenge

File category: CC2 Levelsets

Hello! This is a 22-level set based on the 22 major arcana of the tarot! The maps sometimes resemble the imagery on the cards, and at other times merely embody the spirit of the cards. The puzzles generally don't involve a lot of monster dodging, but I tried to make the maps as varied as the cards themselves. I hope you enjoy playing them as much I enjoyed making them ^^

Includes (in the second zip labelled 'extra music') a custom-made piece of ragtime music which is the bgm for map 15 'The Devil'.

Note: Unrelated to this set, but I'm almost finished working on a 60-level set with no specific theme and I feel it is a massive improvement on the quality of the levels in 'Mystic Challenge'. Though I still feel good about 'Mystic Challenge' as a set, if you're in any way unsatisfied with it as you play through it, I hope this new set I'm making can satisfy you instead!

What's New in Version 1.01
  • 1.01 - replaced a single superfluous tile (which somehow evaded my pre-upload checks) in 'The Devil' with slime.

  CC2 glitch discussion
Posted by: mobius - 13-Jun-2016, 6:41 PM - Forum: Chip's Challenge 2 - Replies (12)

I thought we need a place to discuss/confirm/investigate bugs here on the forum. Since I don't like just adding things to the public buglist unless I'm sure what's going on. And the other topic I made was to ask a question but it sort of turned into discussion, these topics could be merged if that's better. This title should be used though for a glitch discussion rather than "bug in editor?"

Also, I was thinking of making some kind of help file/manual for the game to explain some of the lesser known stuff for beginners and everyone. Since there are so many facets to learn.

Anyways; I've been doing a lot of tinkering lately and discovering odd things, here's one but I think this might be intended [although odd] behavior considering it's utilized in a level from CC2 rejects; "centipede"

when a rover is on train track and collecting bowling balls:

-facing left or right, it will drop the bowling balls as still items.

-facing up, it will drop them rolling like chip would and kill itself

-facing down: it will drop them rolling, but going UP away from the rover, in the opposite direction.

  Competition ideas
Posted by: Ihavenoname248 - 02-Jun-2016, 8:11 PM - Forum: Competitions - No Replies

Don't mind me just putting down some ideas for future competitions.

Time Trial:

Something in CC2

A series of smaller levels based on cloning and other button interactions. Large monster collisions (Four Plex, RGB) would need to be avoided, but optimal solutions would need to be tricky to find.

A sokoban with force floors, to prevent YASC from being helpful.

Something with invalid tiles?

Very limited map edit ability (say, replace any one floor tile with a chip) (idea originally by Ryan)

You may only move in certain directions (idea originally by mobius)

Treasure Hunt:

Something in CC2 (highest level score)

Something in CC2 (highest level bonus)

A level where items decrease score and every second left adds to it, where everything becomes a tradeoff.

A level to be played in Lynx where blue keys give the most score, and must be protected from being erased.

Create:

Take an existing level and 'jigsaw' it into a brand new level.

Possibly some sort of collab design create? Not sure how this would work.

Make a "creatively bad" level (idea originally by Madhav)

Create a level with a goal other than winning the level.

Survival:

None yet! But we need more of these.

  June 2016 Time Trial
Posted by: Ihavenoname248 - 02-Jun-2016, 8:05 PM - Forum: Competitions - Replies (9)

Seeing as the last Time Trial opened up the possibility of some pretty intense to optimize stuff...here's a simple in concept, moderate difficulty level with a ton of potential depth! Can you set up a central room so that two different monsters can pass through simultaneously?

http://cczone.invisionzone.com/index.php?/files/file/575-%7B?%7D/

Standard technicalities shamelessly ripped off from Miika still apply:
1) The person with the highest remaining time the level wins! There may be a tie in overall score.
2) You may enter in only the MS ruleset. I know this is undesirable, but with the concept the two rulesets would be fundamentally unbalanced. The best Lynx solution will be awarded 5 bonus Chip Cup points, like the previous TT. Apologies to those who prefer the Lynx ruleset- if I could have made this concept work there just as well, I would have.
3) Please send your solutions (either the tws file or avis) to my own email jbardonjr at charter dot net. Do not post your solutions or solution times or share them with others before the competition results are announced. All times will be published at the same time, and the quickest solutions will eventually be released. I will strive to respond to your message by a confirmation that your score has been recorded.
4) The level isn't too hard to solve. Don't be afraid to send in your solution even if you sense it isn't perfect, and simple casual solutions are also appreciated.
5) This is part of the 2016 season of the Chip Cup. Winner will be awarded 15 points, second place 12, third 10 points, and so on. If you win a competition here for the first time, you receive the "You're Winner!" award. All participants who haven't participated in a Time Trial earlier receive the "Run, Chip, Run" award.
6) Submission deadline is July 3rd, 2016 where you live. I will judge the submissions without warning the during the following days but will accept submissions until I do. If you need a more specific time, you can always ask. To avoid losing on time (it is a time trial after all), get your solutions in early rather than later! You can send in improvements while the competition is running, so there is no downside to sending in something you know might not be your best effort if you had forever to work on it.

7) The designer of the level may enter the competition, as long as they feel to not have gained any significant advantage as a result of having some advanced knowledge of the levels.
8) The level may receive an update within the first week of their release. This will only be done if there is some significant problem with the first versions of the levels. Please contact me if you suspect something is off.9) <span style="color:rgb(34,34,34);">A participant may 'freeze' their scores at some point after submitting their own solutions. They will not be able to send in any more updates after this, but they may talk about the levels and their times with other people who have frozen their entry. I will update a public list of people who have frozen their score.
