As far as I can tell, it's kind of a toss up. Sometimes Discord is used more often, then Skype is used more often. It really just depends sometimes.
Discord, however, is a lot more organized with certain group topics. There's a separate chat for general CC topics, level designing, optimization, gaming related aside from CC, and even random topics. I recommend joining it, if you're interested.
Skype is still used so there's no need to leave that.
