Posted by: mobius - 19-Jun-2017, 4:48 PM - Forum: Feedback - Replies (3)

when I try to change my avatar pic I can select an image and it's filename appears in the text box but the image never appears and it doesn't change.

using an image hosted from a website seems to work but not uploading from your own PC.

File category: CC1 Levelsets

I took a break from designing levels after CCLP4 submissions closed, because I thought I was out of ideas. But then a funny thing happened- I kept getting ideas, either as I went through the submitted levels or from just playing around. It's been over a year since my last release, but it's finally time to show these creations off.

I don't need screenshots I HAVE A TRAILER

This set contains 60 levels, of which 8 have 0 walls at all and 14 use the walls from another level. 5 were originally designed for use in Time Trials here, and a further 1 was used for one- though that wasn't the intent when designed! 5 of these were entered in Create Competitions, of which 3 overlap the walls of requirement with CCLP1. 2 of these levels were collaborative efforts- thanks to Josh Lee for one of these, and members of my family for putting up with me pestering them until Christmas Armament came together.

All levels are confirmed solvable in both rulesets.

Enjoy the set, and make sure to let me know what you think here!!

Confirmed solvable? Yes

Do you have ECHIP.dat or ECHIP1.dat?
Posted by: Andante - 04-Jun-2017, 2:45 PM - Forum: Level Discussion - No Replies

I'm missing a levelset from my collection and hope to recover it. Please let me know if you have ECHIP.dat or ECHIP1.dat. Unfortunately, I don't know the creator.

NOW CLOSED -- POLL: .dat, .ccl, or both?
Posted by: Andante - 26-May-2017, 3:22 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (11)

Right now, we have two extensions for user levelsets, and there are no rules for assigning one to a new set. A creator can choose whichever. In fact, I've found a huge number of instances where the same set has different extensions in two different locations on the web!

There is simply no consistency. Even CCEdit defaults to .dat, and CCDesign defaults to .ccl.

As I continue to build a database for the available user levelsets out there and I find the same set with different extensions, is it really worth my time to research which was the original? I don't think so.

I would like to vote on how to manage this in the future. Do we settle on one extension? If so, which one? Do we keep things as they are, continuing to manage with two?

Before you vote, here are some facts to consider:

  1. There are plenty of other programs out there that use the .dat extension. When coming across a .dat file, we may not immediately know what it's for. On the contrary, .ccl is ours and only ours. There's no doubt it's a CC levelset.

  2. There are almost ten times as many existing sets on the web using .dat than there are using .ccl.
  3. Dave Varberg claimed that some programs in the Chip community do not work with .ccl. Jeffrey (IHNN) clarified the only two that don't are:
    a. Chuck's new dat2c2g utility to convert to CC2 format, and
    b. The original Chips.exe.

  4. Don't forget that for us, both Blob.dat and Blob.ccl clearly refer to the same levelset. We could change the extension without any confusion.

You can vote above. Keep in mind that IF we decide to standardize, another discussion (and possibly vote) will follow regarding how to do so.

Thanks, everyone!
