CC1 Lynx videos of quickest solutions
#1
So I wasn't sure where to start this thread, but then realized that since my Let's Play tries to contain the quickest solutions it could fit right in here with all the other High Scores-threads. So I'm posting the best routes known to me for CC1 in Lynx to YouTube but not bothering to make individual videos for each level. I'll post each new video in this thread as I upload them for easy reference from one place. Hope you enjoy and any comments and suggestions are welcome!

Some of the audio troubles continue, but at least you can see the routes quite well. I'd redo these if I had the time, but then you'd also miss out on some of the playing that's done live.

Hello again! It's time for the next batch of levels! I can't believe we are already almost to level #100! I might even get this project done before Christmas, as long as I don't start worrying about the untimed levels. That does remind me that I need to work on a few more of the longer timed levels in the set... better get to work!

I first uploaded the wrong solution for Block Buster, so I had to record and upload it again. The version you see above is the updated one, for which I also played #97 again. The other levels are the same in both videos, including the commentary. If someone is keeping track, the original version is found here:
<div class="ipsEmbeddedVideo " contenteditable="false"> . Hopefully I managed to confuse some you with this bait and switch. If I didn't, prove it by leaving a comment!

Sorry for the lack of responses Miika, I've been watching these videos and despite me not being an optimizer, it's very interesting to watch and the commentary you provide is quite nice and helpful. I'm enjoying so far and cannot wait to see more! Slight smile

I agree, your videos have been insightful. For example I didn't know about holding down two keys to keep moving when you hit a wall in lynx.

Thanks guys for the feedback! Any comments are great to hear, and you guys even kind of sounded positive Smiley

Below is the last batch for this year. I couldn't keep them shorter, but you can watch them in parts if they are boring. Or skip some levels, I don't know. At least I'm making some progress and we've made it into the last quarter of the set.

I could be mistaken but it sounds like your using a lot of noise reduction in your video sound editing? If that is the case; what program are you using? There are ways of making it sound better (depend on what u r using). I might be able to help.

also, it's nice to see explanations of levels like Catacombs. Since usually all I've seen is MS playthroughs of those levels in which they are totally broken.

I don't do much work with the audio after recording, though I do select an option to equalize the sound, I think. If you want to help me figure out how to improve the quality, please PM me. I use Camtasia Studio for both the recording and editing afterwards. January went by without a new episode, but these two have some crazy block pushing levels that explain the foot-dragging.

Episode 13, levels 116-121:

http://youtu.be/xRUJSnNnAxQ

Levels and scores in this episode:
CC1#116 - Block Buster II - 696 (bold+2, ms-18)

LIVE!

(new record)

CC1#117 - The Marsh - [923] (bold, ms-19)
CC1#118 - Miss Direction - 258 (bold, ms-2)
CC1#119 - Slide Step - 178 (bold, ms-32)
CC1#120 - Alphabet Soup - [942] (bold, ms-7)

LIVE!

CC1#121 - Perfect Match - [966] (bold, ms-2)

Episode 14, levels 122-127:

http://youtu.be/WSrOaXE40C0

Levels and scores in this episode:
CC1#122 - Totally Fair - 272 (bold, ms-0)
CC1#123 - The Prisoner - 269 (bold, ms-4)

LIVE!

CC1#124 - Firetrap - 657 (bold-3, ms-10)
CC1#125 - Mixed Nuts - [821] (bold+5, ms-9)

(new record)

CC1#126 - Block n Roll - 423 (bold+13, ms-20?)
(new record)

CC1#127 - Skelzie - 442 (bold, ms-12)

That's it! Next I plan to record my attempts to optimize All Full. Tell me how much of that I should show and how heavily I should edit that type of thing? Then I really should work on Mix Up as well before I can upload stuff again. I've tried it a little bit and it might be even worse than Mixed Nuts!
