Try a lightweight Linux distribution? Or just spend the $30 or so for a Raspberry Pi?

is this a joke? You can get a PC that runs Windows 7 and below fairly cheaply these days. Search ebay.
my CC2 sets: Mobi's Challenge (166 levels)
