File category: CC1 Levelsets

DO NOT PLAY THIS SET! ALL ITS LEVELS APPEAR IN C1059-1 AND C1059-2. I simply grouped levels from both these sets to submit for CCLP4. This assumes that CCLP4 will be a CC1 set. If it turns out it will be a CC2 set, I will delete this file and upload a CC2 set instead.

Confirmed solvable? Yes (Lynx and MS)

What's New in Version 1.4
  • 1.0: Original upload on 13 September 2015.
  • 1.1: 28 November 2015:
  • *11: removed chance ending;
  • *33: removed entirely;
  • *55 (now 54): fixed MS bust, as suggested by Tyler.
  • 1.2: 19 February 2016. Added four new levels.
  • 1.3: 01 March 2016. Fixed a few issues detailed in the spreadsheet.
  • 1.3.1: Uploaded the wrong file, everything should be fine now.
  • 1.4: 16 May 2016. Fixed levels 24, 54 and 82.

Tile World file location help (Linux)
Posted by: Flexico - 08-Sep-2015, 7:47 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (7)

I installed the "tworld" package with APT, but it stores some files in "~/.tworld" like I would expect, but others (level sets and resource files) in "/usr/share/games/tworld". I would like everything to be in "~/.tworld", and I read somewhere in the documentation that I can specify different folders, but I can't find how to actually do it. Help please?

  Avatar not working?

I'm trying to upload an avatar for my account here, but when I upload it to the profile thingy, it just stays as the generic silhouette no matter what I click on. I even tried 3 different browsers. The pic is 26kB, below the 50kB limit, so that's not the problem.

  September 2015 Time Trial
Posted by: Ihavenoname248 - 05-Sep-2015, 4:42 PM - Forum: Competitions - Replies (6)

With the release of CC2, the competitions went on hold for a while. But why should they remain stopped? In the interest of feeling out how future CC2 competitions may go, you may submit times for this Time Trial in MS, Lynx, or CC2. To help ease back into things, I've crafted 3 relatively short levels that should all carry a fair amount of optimization depth. The levels can be downloaded here, in a zip file containing 2 .dacs and .c2g.

Enjoy the levels and the return of the competitions!

Technicalities copied from Miika:
1) The person with the highest combined remaining time on the three levels wins! There may be a tie in overall score.
2) You may enter in MS, Lynx or the CC2 engine, with the former being the primary rules. This means that any Lynx or CC2 solution times that exceed the best MS solution time will be considered equal to that MS time, but otherwise all the times will be compared together in one category.
3) Please send your solutions (either the tws file or avis) to my own email jbardonjr at charter dot net. Do not post your solutions or solution times or share them with others before the competition results are announced. All times will be published at the same time, and the quickest solutions will eventually be released. I will strive to respond to your message by a confirmation that your score has been recorded.
4) The levels aren't too hard to solve. Don't be afraid to send in your solutions even if you sense they aren't perfect, and simple casual solutions are also appreciated. You may enter if you solve at least one of the levels, but solving more will obviously place higher.
5) This is part of the 2015 season of the Chip Cup. Winner will be awarded 15 points, second place 12, third 10 points, and so on. If you win a competition here for the first time, you receive the "You're Winner!" award. All participants who haven't participated in a Time Trial earlier receive the "Run, Chip, Run" award.
6) Submission deadline is October 7th where you live. I will judge the submissions without warning the during the following days but will accept submissions until I do. If you need a more specific time, you can always ask. To avoid losing on time (it is a time trial after all), get your solutions in early rather than later! You can send in improvements while the competition is running, so there is no downside to sending in something you know might not be your best effort if you had forever to work on it.

7) The designers of the levels, may enter the competition, as long as they feel to not have gained any significant advantage as a result of having some advanced knowledge of the levels.
8) The levels may receive an update within the first week of the competition. This will only be done if there is some significant problem with the first versions of the levels.
9) A participant may 'freeze' their scores at some point after submitting their own solutions. They will not be able to send in any more updates after this, but they may talk about the levels and their times with other people who have frozen their entry. I will update a public list of people who have frozen their score.

To close the post, have some quotes from Miika about why this is set up the way it is.
[6/6/2015 5:35:20 PM] Miika: Would you mind making a couple levels for one Time Trial and maybe running it too?
[6/6/2015 5:41:17 PM] Miika: I think we should stick with CC1 levels for now, at least for the Chip Cup this year. If someone makes a CC2 comp, that is ok (and cool!) but I think it won't be fair at this point for all the participants to include it in the Chip Cup.
[6/6/2015 5:45:58 PM] Miika: It would probably be best for Sempteber...

I figured that still allowing people to enter in CC2 under the same proviso as the Lynx ruleset has been would be a good idea.

File category: CC1 Levelsets

It's here. After a 3 year hiatus, TomB1.dat, known as Tom Brown's first official levelset, is finally receiving updates. It currently has 95 levels, which may be expanded at some point in the future. The levels start out with some beginner levels, and slowly gets harder as you go on. It has somewhat of a difficulty curve, so it is possible to come up on perhaps a challenging level early in the set. Some of the levels are levels that I originally created in my past, and have been modified to work in both rulesets. Most of the levels in this set are brand new and have never been created by me before 2015. All of the levels in this levelset are compatible in both rulesets, so you are able to choose which ruleset you would like to play for the levelset. Some of the levels in this levelset might be suitable for CCLP5 and other future official level packs.

In other words, I guess that is all I have to say here. I hope you all enjoy it and if you have any suggestions or fixes that you want me to make, feel free to let me know on twitter, discord, and such.

Confirmed solvable? Yes

  Music and CC2

So, since it's now clear that we only got Joplin music with the game, but we can customize it with our own music, the question becomes...who is going to write original music for their levelsets??

File category: CC2 Levelsets

This is my second CC2 set, which, unlike its predecessor, is designed to use all the available game elements. Until it too reaches 100 levels, none of the levels are set in stone. They are subject to be changed or removed entirely depending on the feedback received for this set. The level order will certainly be changed at the 1.0.0 release to provide a reasonable difficulty curve.

Much like Centennium, there will be tutorial levels of a sort at the beginning of this challenge as well, but they will be designed to be played like non-tutorial easy levels. If some end up being too difficult, I will consider moving them back to a later position in the set. Feel free to leave comments / feedback / suggestions at the levelset series thread here: http://cczone.invisionzone.com/index.php?/topic/1140-jbs-cc2-levelset-feedback-thread-centennium-ii-under-construction/

Enjoy chipping!

I have started a CC2 level set. It has 11 levels.

http://cczone.invisionzone.com/index.php?/files/file/497-erics-cc2/

At present it should be considered unstable. Levels may be changed/removed/reordered in future releases.

This thread is for any comments.
