February 2018 Create Competition - Walls of CCLP4 |

Ah, the joys of February. Some people look forward to skiing. Some perhaps wait for Valentine's Day. But what do Chipsters do? We wait for a Walls of Competition!
Your task is to pick a level from CCLP4 and use its arrangement of walls to create a new level. You can pick any level from the range #1-#149, then delete anything you want except for any walls, and finally rebuild it into a new level. If you wish, you can also pick another prominent tile in the level and replace it with some other tile exactly.
You might know the drill by now, on this our fifth year visiting this theme, but this time I thought we could be a bit more lenient on the rules. If you have already made a level that fits the criteria you may submit it here. I see three reasons to allow them this time around:
1) CCLP4 just came out under a year ago. (Not sure how that helps, but it is a factor that has not been true previously.)
2) I haven't yet seen any of these levels even if they have been released. (Assuming I will judge the competition this factors in.)
3) I was asked if this could be done this time. (I love to accommodate you all.)
Other than that, my main instruction is to keep your submissions fun. You may also write a short explanation on if and how a particular wall arrangement inspired your new level with those walls. (I don't think it will be extra credit directly, but it will give me more insight and perhaps appreciation for what you make, and I may take that into consideration in the rankings.)
The deadline is March 4th where you live. Please send your submissions to valeosote at hotmail dot com.
Ask away with any other questions!
-Miika
Technical notes:
[Click to Show Content]
-Do not make a overly difficult level. A moderate difficulty is fine but then it would be nice if it wasn't too long.
-The level must be solvable, but does not need to work in both MS and Lynx. You may even use invalid tiles if you wish. Ask about submitting something in CC2; it shouldn't be a problem but it will make it harder on me to rank the entries.
-The level should preferably be new, but this time around you may something you have already made before.
-Please give the level a new name, time limit and set a new password. Don't forget!
-You may submit more than one entry, but please keep the levels distinct from each other. Your best two entries is recommended. You may also pair up and collaborate with someone else for your submission, but please only one level per such pairing.
-Points may be deducted for late entries, but will be accepted until I judge the levels. This is usually a couple of days after the stated deadline, but don't count on it; it exists more for the chance to update the levels if there is something really wrong with them.
-Entrants qualify for the normal prizes: the "You're Winner!"-award, Chip Cup points, and "Tool Box"-award for first time entrants.
-Please ask about other unclear situations. You may also check the previous competitions if similar situations were already discussed. There's interesting stuff hiding in the archives!
-Email and attach your submissions to my email stated above. I will strive to reply with a confirmation that I have received your entry. I prefer if you use your username and this competition in the subject. Keep it short and simple, something like: "February Create - Mario"

February 2018 Time Trial |

Most times scoring the best time on a level is about understanding the how the Exit is reached most efficiently. Other times it can be about the execution of a planned route or reacting to elements in the game that aren't always the same. This competition is about one of those latter times.
Now, not everyone enjoys random elements in a speed running environment, so don't take this one too seriously. I know some of us can obsess about scoring the perfect run, but for your own sake, just play these levels only for as long as you enjoy them.
The first level has some random force floors. The second level has some blobs. Thanks to Jeffrey for making these for us. You can find them as levels #107 and #108 in the updated CCZoneTT.dat:
CC Zone File embed: https://cczone.invisionzone.com/files/fi.../?do=embed
A few quick things before I let you go:
- Deadline for the competition is March 4th where you live.
- Please send your submissions (tws or avi) to me at valeosote at hotmail dot com.
- The competition is in MS mode, but you can send in Lynx solutions as well.
Enjoy!

<ol style="background-color:#fafafa; color:#353c41; font-size:14px; text-align:start">
[*]
The person with the highest combined score on the two levels "Acid Pocket" and "Sludge Report" wins! There may be a tie in overall score, though I may choose to have the level with more variance in submitted scores to be a tie-breaker.
[*]
You may enter in either MS or Lynx, with MS considered primary. This means the players will be ranked by their MS times if they have one, and if not their Lynx time will count as their MS time, with the caveat that if it exceeds the best reported MS time, then it is considered equal to that time.
[*]
Please send your solutions (either the tws file or avis) to my own email valeosote at hotmail dot com. I will strive to respond to your message by a confirmation that your score has been recorded.
[*]
The levels aren't hard to solve but getting a great time does require some grinding. Don't be afraid to send in your solutions even if you sense they aren't perfect, and simple casual solutions are also appreciated. You may enter if you solve at least one of the levels, but solving both will obviously place higher.
[*]
Submission deadline is March 4th, 2018 where you live. I will judge the submissions without warning during the following days but will accept submissions until I do. If you need a more specific time, you can always ask. To avoid losing on time (it is a time trial after all), get your solutions in early rather than later! You can send in improvements while the competition is running, so there is no downside to sending in something you know might not be your best effort if you had forever to work on it.
[*]
This is part of the 2018 season of the Chip Cup. The winner will be awarded 15 points, second place 12, third 10 points, and so on. If you win a competition here for the first time, you qualify for the "You're Winner!" award. All participants who haven't participated in a Time Trial earlier qualify for the "Run, Chip, Run" award. The quickest Lynx solutions may be awarded an additional 5 Chip Cup points. The participants who send their first submissions before February 12th may receive an Early Bird Bonus of 1 Chip Cup point.
[*]
The designer of the levels and any others who have seen the levels in advance, may enter the competition. Please be fair and do not abuse this rule; it is meant to maximize the fun, not provide an advantage.
[*]
The levels may receive an (other) update within the first week of their release. This will only be done if there is some significant problem with the first versions of the levels. Please contact me if you suspect something is off. If you saw an earlier version of one of the levels, this time around you may use that for submissions but it is not preferred.
[*]
Do not post your solutions or solution times or share them with others before the competition results are announced. All times will be published at the same time, and the quickest solutions will eventually be released. Stay tuned for a public tws of all the levels so far!
[*]
As an exception to the above rule, a participant may 'freeze' their scores at some point after submitting their own solutions. They will not be able to submit any more updates after this, but they may talk about the levels and their times with other people who have frozen their entry. I may update a public list of people who have frozen their score.

Creating a .c2g file using built-in editor? |

Not sure how to create one using the built-in editor.
I placed someone else's level directory in CC2 -> data-> games so it is alongside the main level set. However when I play the custom levels they appear to be sharing the same score file as the one used for the main game

How do I use the colourful walls/floors in my level design?
And if I want more than 1 hint in my level each with its own content how do I do that?

I'm now in my early 30s. I can still come up with levels and still do so for CC amongst other games but the ideas don't seem to flow as thick as they did back when I was in my teens.
Even giving levels titles I find myself having to think a little whereas over a decade ago a fitting title would just appear in my mind.
